Irving Lowens Article Award
2007 Competition
Deadline for submissions: April 1, 2008
The Irving Lowens Article Award is granted annually by the Society for American Music for an article that makes an outstanding contribution to the study of American music. Articles eligible for consideration include studies on any aspect of music of the United States, together with investigations of American practices as they inform and intersect with musical cultures and traditions beyond U.S. national boundaries.
Nominations are now being solicited for the award (authors may nominate their own work). All articles appearing during the 2007 calendar year are eligible, regardless of the date formally indicated in the publication. Nominations should be sent to the committee chair, preferably via email.
