The Society for American Music and the Center for Black Music
Research invite you to exhibit at our joint conference to be held
at the Westin Chicago River North in Chicago, Illinois, 15-19
March 2006. Those who attend our conference have many interests
in American music, but they teach and perform in all areas of
music and are always interested in new publications of scholarly
works, textbooks, scores, and recordings. Many make library selections
for their universities. With reduced travel funds at colleges
and universities, faculty travel is often limited to one conference
each year. We look forward to providing our attendees with a comprehensive
display of the most recent books, periodicals, sound recordings,
videos, software, CD-ROMs, and musical instruments.
The exhibit area will be in the
Astor Ballroom, directly adjacent to most of the conference sessions
(visit the Westin's website
for a map of the conference space). The exhibits will be open
Thursday morning through Saturday afternoon. It is staffed at
all times, and free coffee is provided. The Exhibit Room is where
attendees congregate and network, thus providing maximum exposure
for exhibitors.
Exhibitors will be listed
in the program and on the web site.
Please submit your reservation by February 1, 2006.
We offer three ways for publishers
and distributors large and small to exhibit:
Traditional 6' tables are available
for publishers and exhibitors who wish to send representatives.
The cost is $150 for the first table and $75 for each additional
table. The conference registration fee is waived for one representative.
For publishers who would like
to send materials without a representative, we will staff the
tables for you. The books will be sold on the last day of the
conference with the proceeds going to the Society's Student
Travel Endowment Fund. The cost is $150 for a full table and
$100 for a half table.
Publishers or authors who want
to display single books may do so at a cost of $10 per book.
The books are sold on the last day of the conference with the
proceeds going to the Society's Student Travel Endowment Fund.
