Membership Information

Dues: Annual dues are $75 for individuals, $38 for retirees, $35 for students (full-time, in residence), $30 for spouse/partner, and $90 for institutions. (Foreign and Canadian members, please add $10.00 to membership fee for postage.)

New Members: You can mail in an application (PDF format) or join online! (Note: Applications received after October 15th will start the following calendar year, unless otherwise specified.)

• American Music
  Your subscription to American Music is ordered by the Society each year from the publisher, University of Illinois Press. Publication is in April, June, September, and December. If your address changes mid-year, it would be wise to send them a card as well as one to us. Their address is American Music, University of Illinois Press, 1325 South Oak Street, Champaign, IL 61820. If you do not receive your journal, check to be sure that your membership is current and that the address is correct. Then call the Press at 217/244-0626.
  
  
• The Society for American Music Bulletin
  The Bulletin includes news of the Society, upcoming conferences of interest, recent research and reviews and other communications of interest to members.
  
  
• Membership Directory and Handbook
  The Directory includes members' addresses as well as other important information concerning the Society such as officers, appointments, committees, and interest group listing. Also appended is an index of members' interests and geographical locations. It is compiled from information in the membership database with additional information solicited in the late fall from every member.
  
  
• Society for American Music Listserv
  You do not need to be a member to subscribe to the list, but you do need to be subscribed to the list to send messages. To send a message, address it to sonneck@american-music.org. The message will automatically be sent to everyone who is subscribed to the list. If you respond to a message on the list, your response will go directly to the person who posted the note. This is the default response address. It will NOT go to everyone on the list unless you re-address it to sonneck@american-music.org.
